Info Hub

Fuxam Base's official-announcements tool — publish targeted institutional updates with read tracking across Fuxam Web and Fuxam Mobile.

The Info Hub is Fuxam Base’s official-announcements channel. Institutions use it to publish guides, policy updates, deadlines, and operational notices that need a single authoritative source — not a scattered email thread or an informal chat message. Posts support rich text, attachments, audience targeting, priority levels, tags, pinning, templates, and read tracking so administrators can reach the right people and confirm who has seen critical information.

Why it matters

Universities routinely need to communicate at scale: registration windows, exam rules, campus closures, onboarding checklists, and compliance reminders. Email alone is hard to audit; chat messages get buried; course announcements only reach enrolled students. The Info Hub gives you one institution-wide noticeboard with deliberate audience control — so a message to “all teaching staff in Group X” or “Winter 2026 intake cohort” does not leak to everyone, while still living in the same platform students and staff already use daily.

Read tracking closes the loop: for high-priority posts, editors can see who has opened an announcement rather than guessing whether an email was read. That matters for time-sensitive or policy-bearing communications where “we posted it” is not enough.

How this fits into Fuxam

The Info Hub sits in Fuxam Base alongside User Management, Calendar, and Chat. Because Base is shared infrastructure, the same announcements surface across FuxamLMS, FuxamCMS, and Apply — wherever a user has access to Fuxam Web. The LMS Communication area documents how students and teachers encounter the Info Hub in a learning context; see Info Hub in the LMS for that entry point.

Audience targeting draws on concepts defined elsewhere in the platform:

  • User groups — manually curated bundles of people (for example, teaching staff or a project team).
  • Study programs and cohorts — academic intake groups managed in the CMS, often the natural unit for student-facing notices.

On mobile, published announcements can appear in the notification center when your institution has announcements enabled and a post triggers a notification (for Medium and High priority publishes). That complements — but does not replace — the Info Hub feed on Fuxam Web.

Info Hub vs Chat vs email

Fuxam offers three complementary communication channels. Use the right tool for the job:

Channel Best for Persistence and reach
Info Hub Official, institution-wide or targeted announcements; content that should be findable later Published posts live in the feed; audience-scoped; read tracking available
Chat Quick, two-way conversations; course channels; informal coordination Real-time threads; not designed as an authoritative noticeboard
Email Formal external correspondence; OrgHub workflows Outside or alongside Fuxam; no built-in Info Hub read receipts

An urgent room change might start in Chat; the official policy update belongs in the Info Hub.

Key concepts

Term Meaning
Announcement A single Info Hub post with title, rich-text body, optional attachments, and metadata (status, priority, tags, audience).
Status Draft (editors only), Published (visible to audience), or Archived (hidden from active views but retained until deleted).
Audience / visibility Everyone (all institution users) or Targeted Audience (roles, named users, groups, and/or cohorts — inclusive OR logic). See Target your audience.
Priority Urgency from No Priority through Urgent; Medium and High can trigger Notify audience when published. See Set priority and tags.
Template A reusable draft layout with optional placeholders (for example, a student name or event date) used to standardise recurring announcements. See Manage templates.
Pin Highlights one published post in the Home dashboard pinned banner. See Pin an announcement.
Read receipt Automatic record when a user opens a published announcement; powers unread badges and analytics. See Read receipts and analytics.
Semantic search When enabled, search can match meaning as well as keywords; attachments may be indexed. See Search announcements.

Open the Info Hub

Click Info Hub in the left sidebar to open the main Info Hub page.

When you have unread published posts, a numeric badge appears on the Info Hub sidebar item. The count reflects announcements you can see but have not opened yet.

What you see on the main page

The Info Hub main page lists announcements as cards in a scrollable feed. Each card shows the title, status and priority badges (for editors), tags, and a short preview of the content. Click a card to open the full post.

If your institution has enabled semantic search, the search bar at the top can match meaning as well as keywords. See Search announcements.

Editors who can create announcements also see a Create menu and filter controls for status, priority, tags, author, visibility, and pinned state.

Home widget (compact list)

On your Home dashboard, an Info Hub widget can show recent announcements in a compact, list-style layout. These use the same underlying posts as the main Info Hub page but in a denser format suited to the widget grid.

Tabs

When you have permission to create or update announcements, a Templates tab appears next to the main Info Hub tab. Use it to manage reusable announcement templates. See Manage templates.

Roles and responsibilities

Role Typical responsibility
Reader Open and read published posts in their audience; unread badges update automatically on view.
Author Draft and publish announcements; manage templates; may see Analytics on detail pages.
Editor Revise existing posts, change status (including archive), adjust audience and metadata.
Publisher / communications lead (often combines create, update, and pin access) Set priority, tags, pinning, and targeting for official notices; monitor read analytics.
Administrator Permanently remove posts when retention or correction requires it.

Capabilities are assigned through institution role profiles. See Roles and permissions for how access is configured.

What each capability allows

Capability What it allows
View announcements See published announcements you are in the audience for
Create announcements Create announcements and templates
Edit announcements Change existing announcements and their status
Delete announcements Permanently remove announcements
Pin announcements Pin and unpin published announcements on the Home dashboard

Where to start

A typical communications workflow:

  1. Plan audience — decide whether the post is institution-wide or targeted at roles, user groups, or cohorts.
  2. Create — write the post, optionally from a template.
  3. Configure — set priority and tags; enable notification if appropriate.
  4. Publish — post goes live to the feed, Home widget, and (if pinned) the Home banner.
  5. Monitor — use read receipts and analytics for critical notices; search and filter to manage a growing library.
