View your curriculum
Read your assigned study plan on the Curriculum tab — required and elective modules, ECTS progress per group, and statuses such as passed, pending, not elected, and overflow.
The Curriculum tab is your personal study plan: the modules you must or may complete, the credit points (ECTS) for each, and how far you are toward your degree requirements.
It reflects the programme your institution assigned to your cohort — not every course offered in the LMS. Use it to see what is still open before you elect modules or book sections.
Why it matters
Degree regulations are structural: required modules, elective clusters with credit rules, and progression expectations across study periods. The Curriculum tab translates that structure into a personal progress view so you can answer:
- Which modules are still open?
- How many ECTS have I already earned in this group?
- Which electives have I not yet chosen?
Without this view, students often confuse “I am enrolled in a course” with “I have fulfilled the curriculum requirement.” Enrollment and booking are about access to teaching; curriculum progress is about academic completion against the programme blueprint.
How it fits
| Related area | Relationship |
|---|---|
| Curricula | Source blueprint (versions, study periods, module slots) behind your tab |
| Modules | Units of study with ECTS; each row on your plan references a module (version) |
| Elective groups | Rules for optional clusters — credit limits, course counts, unlock, overflow |
| Module Catalog | Where you elect optional modules that then appear as elected on your plan |
| Book and unbook courses | Where you may self-join course instances that deliver those modules |
| Courses | Day-to-day learning spaces whose completion and grades feed progress |
Key concepts
ECTS and progress
ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) expresses estimated student workload. In the European Higher Education Area, a full academic year commonly corresponds to 60 ECTS. Your Curriculum tab uses the credit points configured on modules in the curriculum to show progress — often both as completed course or module counts and as ECTS accumulated, depending on how your institution structured each group.
| Idea | Student meaning |
|---|---|
| Required module | A curriculum slot you must complete (typically no elective group) |
| Elective / optional module | A choice inside an elective group with institutional rules |
| Progress per group | How far you are toward that group’s requirement (courses completed vs required, and ECTS accumulated) |
| Overflow | You have elected more than the group requires; surplus may count toward another configured group |
Module status
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Passed | You have completed this module and received a passing grade |
| Pending | You are currently enrolled or have work in progress |
| Not elected | This is an elective module you have not yet chosen |
| Overflow | You have elected more modules than required in this group |

What you can see
The Curriculum tab shows:
- Your study programme — the name and version of the curriculum assigned to you.
- Module groups — modules organised into mandatory and elective groups.
- Progress per group — how many courses you have completed versus the total required, and the ECTS accumulated.
- Module status — each module shows whether it is passed, pending, or not yet elected.
Track your progress
The progress indicators show you at a glance how close you are to fulfilling the requirements of each module group — both in course count and in ECTS, depending on how your institution has structured the curriculum.
For elective modules, use the Module Catalog to elect modules from your curriculum. See Module Catalog.
Best practices
- Start each term here. Confirm mandatory remaining modules and open elective capacity before you elect or book.
- Use status deliberately. Not elected means academic choice is still open; Pending means you are mid-module; Passed is completion.
- Watch overflow. Extra elections can be useful when allowed, but they may not replace other group requirements — check whether overflow is intended to feed another cluster.
- Connect the next action. Electives → Module Catalog; bookable sections → Book courses; published results → Management tab.
Common pitfalls
| Situation | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Curriculum tab missing | Your role cannot view the study plan, or your institution has not turned on curriculum planning | Ask your administrator |
| Module stuck Not elected | You have not elected it during an open window | Use the Module Catalog |
| Enrolled in a course but module still pending | Course work or grades not yet completed or published | Continue the course; check Management for published grades |
| ECTS looks low despite many courses | Courses may not map to this curriculum group, or credits differ by module version | Confirm with your institution which offerings count |
FAQ
Is the Curriculum tab the same as My Courses?
No. My Courses lists LMS course memberships (including bookable offerings). Curriculum shows academic requirements and progress against your study plan. You need both views for a complete picture.
Why do I see Overflow?
Overflow means you have elected more modules than the group requires. Institutions sometimes allow surplus credits to count toward another elective group when that is configured in the curriculum. Ask your programme office how overflow is counted for your degree.
Who defines what appears here?
Administrators build curricula, place modules, configure elective groups, and assign a curriculum version to your cohort. Your tab reflects that assignment.
