Choose how you get notifications
Under Settings → Personal → Notifications, choose for each notification whether you get it by email, push or in-app, then save.
Settings → Personal → Notifications lets you choose, for each kind of notification, whether Fuxam tells you by Email, Push or In-app. Every signed-in user has this page, and your choices only affect your own account.
Why it matters
Fuxam sends notifications for messages, appointments, grades, deadlines, tasks, announcements and much more. Out of the box every channel is on. Turning off what you do not need keeps your inbox and phone quiet, while the in-app bell still keeps everything in one place.
Before you start
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Access | Open Settings, then Notifications under Personal in the Settings sidebar. No special permission is needed |
| Push | Push notifications reach you on a device where you use Fuxam and allow notifications |
| Defaults | Until you change anything, Email, Push and In-app are all on for every notification |
Choose your channels
Open Settings → Personal → Notifications. The page explains: "Choose how you receive notifications by email, push, and in-app."
Find the notification you want to change. Each row has a title and a short description, for example New Messages ("Receive an email notification when someone messages you."), Announcements, Appointment Updates, Content Block Deadlines or New task assigned.
Tick or untick the checkboxes Email, Push and In-app in that row.
Repeat for other rows. An unsaved-changes bar appears at the bottom.
Select Save to keep your choices, or Discard to undo them. After saving you see Changes saved successfully.
Common pitfalls
| Pitfall | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Leaving the page without saving | Your changes are lost | Select Save in the unsaved-changes bar first |
| A notification you expect is not in the list | It does not apply to your role, or your institution does not use that feature | Ask your administrator if you think you should receive it |
| All three channels unticked | You get no notification of that kind at all, not even in the app | Keep at least In-app on for anything important |
FAQ
Can I change notification settings for other users?
No. This page only changes your own account.
I unsubscribed from an email. Can I get those emails back?
Yes. Unsubscribing from a Fuxam email turns off the Email channel in these settings. Open Settings → Personal → Notifications, tick Email again for that notification and select Save.
Why is a row I used to see gone?
Rows follow your current role, permissions and your institution's features. If one of those changed, the list changes too.
