Use My Term
Use the My Term Home tab for current-term courses and exams — filter categories, enroll or waitlist, track progress, and manage exam attempts.
My Term is the Home tab for your current academic term — relevant courses (enroll, waitlist, self-study) and relevant exams (grades, dates, submissions) in one place. Open it from Home in the sidebar; the tab label may show your term name (for example a semester name) instead of My Term.
Why it matters
At the start of a term you need a short list of this term's courses and exams — not your whole career curriculum. My Term filters to the current term so you can:
- See which courses you are already enrolled in and which are still open for self-enrollment.
- Join a waitlist or start self-study when your institution enables those options.
- Track content and attendance progress on course tiles.
- Find exam attempts, published grades, submission links, and actions such as withdrawal or requests.
Before you start
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Role profile | My Term enabled for your role (default for Member) |
| Active term | Your institution has a current organisation term (or a term that covers today) |
| Course booking | Self-enrollment, waitlist, and self-study filters appear only if course booking is allowed for you and the matching institution settings are on |
| Exam Center | Exam tables and submission links depend on Exam Center / module library access for your institution |
Open My Term
Click Home in the sidebar.
Select the My Term tab (or the tab that shows your current term name).
If you see No active term, wait until your institution's next term starts, or ask your administrator which term is active.
Work with Relevant Courses
The Relevant Courses section lists courses for the current term. When booking is enabled, the description mentions enrolled, self-study, waitlist, and open enrollment. Without booking, you still see courses you already have access to, with content and attendance progress.
Filter by category
When you can book courses, use the category selector next to the section title:
| Category | What it shows |
|---|---|
| All courses | Every relevant course for the term |
| My Courses | Courses you are enrolled in |
| Courses on Waitlist | Courses you joined the waitlist for (waitlist must be enabled) |
| Self-study Courses | Self-study courses for the term (self-study must be enabled) |
| Courses open for self-enrollment | Courses you can still enroll in |
Use Search courses... to narrow the list by name.
Course tiles
Each tile can show:
- Course name, banner, and status badges.
- Content progress and Attendance when you are enrolled.
- Preview (eye icon) to open a course preview sheet.
- Actions that depend on the category and your booking rights:
| Action | When you see it |
|---|---|
| Open course | You are enrolled and can enter the course |
| Self-Enrollment / Enroll | The course is open for booking |
| Join Waitlist | The course is full and waitlist is enabled |
| Self-study | Self-study enrollment is offered |
| Unenroll | You booked the course yourself and unbooking is still allowed |
| Enrolled (disabled) | You are enrolled but cannot unenroll (for example admin assignment) |
Optionally choose a category such as Courses open for self-enrollment.
Find the course tile. Use Preview if you want details before committing.
Choose Enroll, Join Waitlist, or Self-study from the enrollment control when available.
After enrollment, click Open course to go to the course learning space.
Work with Relevant Exams
The Relevant Exams section lists exam requirements for modules in the current term. Expand a module, then an exam, to see attempt rows.
Search, sort, and pin
- Use Search exams... to filter by module or exam name (and related labels).
- Use Sort to order by Date or Module name.
- Use the pin control on a module or exam (Pin module / Pin exam) to keep important items at the top of your personal list. Pinning is stored in your browser for this tab.
Attempt table columns
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Attempt | Attempt number; badge colour reflects result and whether registration needs attention |
| Grade | Published grade only — entered but unpublished grades stay hidden |
| Date / Appointment | Appointment time, scheduled date, or submission deadline (in that priority) |
| Examiners | Staff assigned to evaluate the attempt |
| Grading status | Open, Entered, or Published |
| Participation status | Registered, Withdrawn, Deregistered, or Registered (!) when something needs your action |
| Submission | View or download work; Submit now when you can still submit |
| Review | View review when a published exam review is available |
| Actions | Attempt options such as withdrawal or requests (extension, early assessment, and similar) |
A Registered (!) participation status means you are registered but something needs attention — for example a missing appointment, a pending request, or a submission issue. Open the row tooltip or Actions for the next step.
In Relevant Exams, expand the module and exam you need.
Read Grading status and Participation status for the attempt.
If you need to submit work, use Submit now when it is available.
When a grade is Published, read it in the Grade column; use View review if your institution released a review.
Best practices
- Start each term on My Term before browsing the full My Courses or Curriculum tabs.
- Prefer the category filters over scrolling All courses when booking is busy.
- Pin exams with upcoming appointments so they stay visible above other modules.
- Treat Entered grades as not final until status is Published.
Common pitfalls
| Situation | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| No My Term tab | Role profile has the tab off, or you are not in a role that includes it |
| No active term | No current organisation term for you / institution |
| Empty Relevant Courses | Nothing mapped to this term yet, or you need to elect / wait for offerings |
| No waitlist or self-study categories | Institution setting or your booking permission is off |
| Grade column empty while status is Entered | Grade is not published yet — wait for Published |
| Registered (!) | Missing appointment, pending request, or submission issue — open tooltips / Actions |
FAQ
Why does the tab show a semester name instead of My Term?
When your institution has an active organisation term, Home can label the tab with that term's name. The fallback label is My Term. Hover the tab when more than one active term name exists to see the full list.
How is My Term different from My Courses?
My Courses is your broader course list and booking workspace. My Term focuses on courses and exams tied to the current academic term, with term-specific filters and the exam attempt table.
Does My Term replace the Module Catalog or Curriculum?
No. Elect modules in the Module Catalog and review programme progress on Curriculum. Use My Term for day-to-day term courses and exams.
