Communication

How Chat, Emails, and the Info Hub connect course participants to institution-wide messaging in FuxamLMS — and when to use each channel.

Communication in FuxamLMS is how students, teachers, and staff stay in touch around teaching and learning. Fuxam offers three complementary channels — Chat for real-time coordination, Emails for formal outbound messages to platform users, and the Info Hub for official announcements with audience targeting and read tracking. Two of these tools — Chat and the Info Hub — are Fuxam Base features that span the whole institution; the LMS section explains how they appear inside courses and how they relate to the global sidebar views documented under Fuxam Base.

Why it matters

University life runs on timely, reliable information. A room change ten minutes before class, a deadline extension, a policy update for an intake cohort, or a reminder before an exam each needs a different kind of channel. Scattering these across personal email, messaging apps, and ad hoc course posts creates gaps: students miss updates, staff cannot prove who was informed, and teachers duplicate effort. Fuxam keeps communication inside the platform — next to courses, calendars, and grades — so the right message reaches the right people through the right medium.

How this fits into Fuxam

Communication sits at the intersection of Fuxam Base (institution-wide tools) and FuxamLMS (course-scoped workspaces). Base provides the shared infrastructure; the LMS narrows that infrastructure to the courses you teach or study in.

Channel Institution-wide entry Course-scoped entry Primary handbook
Chat Chat in the left sidebar — all conversations, including Course Channels Chat tab inside a course — the course message thread Chat in the LMS · Fuxam Base Chat
Emails Emails in the left sidebar (your role must allow sending email) Recipients can include course participants when composing Emails
Info Hub Info Hub in the left sidebar — full announcement feed Announcements widgets on your Home dashboard; posts visible wherever you work in Fuxam Web Info Hub in the LMS · Fuxam Base Info Hub

The LMS overview describes how communication fits alongside courses, calendar and attendance, and grading. Getting around explains where sidebar items appear after sign-in.

Choosing the right channel

You need to… Reach for…
Coordinate quickly with everyone in a course (“Which room?”, “Can you share the slides?”) Course Chat or the course channel in global Chat
Send a formal notice to named users, groups, or course participants Emails (if your role allows you to send email through Fuxam)
Publish an official, findable announcement with optional read tracking Info Hub (if your role allows you to create and edit announcements)
Message one colleague or student privately Direct message in Chat

An urgent room change might start in Chat; the official exam policy belongs in the Info Hub; a personalised reminder to enrolled students may suit email.
