View an announcement
Read a full Info Hub post, see read and unread state, and interact with the pinned banner.
View an announcement is how readers open a published Info Hub post and consume its full content — title, rich-text body, attachments, and metadata. Published announcements open on a dedicated detail page. Anyone in the post’s audience who can view announcements can read it.
Why it matters
The feed and Home widget show only previews. The detail page is where readers get complete instructions, download attachments, and understand who else the post concerns. For editors, the same page is the hub for follow-up actions — Edit, Analytics, pin management, and delete — without returning to the list.
Automatic read marking means institutions can trust unread badges and sidebar counts as a proxy for engagement on critical notices, feeding read receipts and analytics on the editor side.
How it fits
Readers reach announcements from several entry points that all resolve to the same detail page:
| Entry point | Typical context |
|---|---|
| Info Hub feed | Browsing institutional notices in Fuxam Base |
| Home Info Hub widget | Glancing at recent posts from the dashboard |
| Pinned banner | High-visibility item at the top of Home |
| Mobile notification | Tap-through from the notification center when announcements are enabled |
| LMS Communication | Students and teachers who discover the Info Hub via LMS communication |
Viewing is intentionally separate from Chat: announcements are one-to-many and authoritative; chat is conversational. If a post invites questions, readers may follow up in Chat or email, but the Info Hub post remains the canonical text.
Audience metadata on the detail page reflects targeting rules — Everyone, or a breakdown of roles, users, user groups, and cohorts when you are permitted to see it.
Open a post
From Info Hub, click an announcement card in the feed.
Or follow a link from the home Info Hub widget, the pinned banner, or a notification.
The detail page shows the full title, rich-text content, attachments, metadata (author, dates, priority, tags, audience), and version history when applicable.
Attachments open or download from the detail page — useful for forms, maps, and PDF guides referenced in the body.
Read and unread state
When you open a published announcement, Fuxam automatically marks it as read for your account. You do not need to click a separate “mark as read” control on the detail page.
On list views (Info Hub cards and the home widget), unread posts show an Unread badge next to the title. After you open the post, that badge disappears on subsequent visits.
The unread count on the Info Hub sidebar item decreases as you read posts you have access to.
Pinned banner on Home
When an announcement is pinned, eligible users see a pinned banner at the top of the Home dashboard (not on the Info Hub list page itself).
- The banner shows the pinned post’s title and can be expanded to read the full content inline.
- Expanding the banner also marks the announcement as read.
- Urgent priority pinned items use a more prominent (red) banner styling.
Only one pinned announcement is highlighted in the banner at a time. Pinning is managed by users with permission to pin announcements; see Pin an announcement.
The banner is the highest-visibility reader surface short of a push notification — institutions typically reserve it for one active priority item (exam week, campus closure, enrollment deadline).
Detail page tabs
Editors who can create announcements also see an Analytics tab on the detail page with read statistics. See Read receipts and analytics.
Readers without create permission see the announcement content only — no Analytics tab.
Best practices for readers
- Open attachments from the detail page — preview text in the feed may omit file context.
- Check audience metadata — if a post mentions “your cohort” or “your program”, confirm the audience line matches you; targeted posts are invisible outside their audience, so if you were forwarded a link you may not have access.
- Use search for older posts — the feed prioritises recency; see Search announcements to find archived or older topics.
Common pitfalls
| Pitfall | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Expecting a manual “mark as read” button | Read state updates automatically when you open a published post. |
| Looking for pinned content on the Info Hub list | The pinned banner appears on Home, not the Info Hub feed. |
| Assuming unread on mobile matches web instantly | Mobile and web share the same posts; open the detail page on either platform to clear unread for your account. |
FAQ
Why do I see an Unread badge but already read the email about this?
Info Hub read state is independent of email. Opening the post in Fuxam clears the Unread badge.
Can I view a Draft announcement?
Drafts are visible only to editors with appropriate permissions — general readers cannot open unpublished drafts.
What happens if I am not in the audience?
You will not see the post in your feed and may receive an access error if you follow a direct link. Audience rules are described in Target your audience.
