Use the notification center

View, filter, and manage in-app notifications on the Notifications tab in Fuxam Mobile — including chat, appointments, Info Hub announcements, and academic alerts.

The Notifications tab is your in-app notification center in Fuxam Mobile. It collects updates about chat, appointments, academic items, and more in one chronological list so you can review what happened while you were away, clear what you have handled, and jump straight to the related content. Push alerts on your lock screen bring you here when you tap them; you can also open the tab anytime to browse your full history.

Why it matters

Universities move fast — timetable changes, urgent campus notices, course deadlines, and direct messages all compete for attention. The notification center gives students and staff a single, trustworthy inbox inside the app instead of hunting through Chat, Calendar, and course areas separately. Unread indicators help you spot what still needs action; filters let you focus when one area is busy; and tapping a notification takes you straight to the related chat, appointment, or announcement.

For institutions, the center is the mobile counterpart to how notices are authored and targeted on Fuxam Web. Many items — especially Info Hub announcements — originate in Fuxam Base Info Hub, where staff publish, prioritize, and audience-target posts. When announcements are enabled for your institution, those posts can surface here under the Info Hub filter and as push alerts if you have opted in (see Manage push notifications).

How it fits

The notification center sits between delivery (push alerts and in-app badges) and action (opening the chat thread, appointment, or announcement). It does not replace those features — it organizes pointers to them.

Source area Typical notification Where tapping leads
Chat New message in a channel or direct chat The matching message thread
Calendar Appointment updated or cancelled Appointment details
Info Hub Urgent or standard announcement The related announcement content
Academic Deadlines, documents, attendance The relevant academic item in context
Others Miscellaneous updates The related screen when applicable

Managing which types of alerts reach your device is separate from managing the list itself. Use Manage push notifications under Account → Notification Preferences to control push delivery; use this page to review and tidy notifications you have already received.

Key concepts

Term Meaning
Notification center The Notifications tab — an in-app list of events Fuxam has recorded for your account on this device.
Push notification A lock-screen or banner alert on your phone, controlled separately in notification preferences.
Unread indicator Visual mark on a notification (or aggregate count) showing you have not yet opened or marked it read.
Filter category A slice of the list — e.g. Chat only — without changing what was delivered.
Tap to open Opening the related item by tapping a notification row.

Filter notifications

Use filters when your list is long or you are looking for a specific kind of update — for example, only timetable changes after a schedule reshuffle, or only chat while coordinating a group project.

Open the Notifications tab.

Tap the Filter button at the top right of the screen to open the filter menu.

Select a category to narrow what you see.

Available categories:

  • All — every notification in your list
  • Chat — messages and chat-related activity; pairs with the Chat tab, where unread badges also reflect conversation state
  • Appointments — calendar changes such as updates and cancellations; relates to your schedule on the Calendar tab
  • Info Hub — institutional announcements (only when your institution has announcements enabled); content is authored in Fuxam Base Info Hub
  • Academic — course and administrative academic items (deadlines, documents, attendance, and similar)
  • Others — notifications that do not fall into the categories above

The filter button shows the currently active category so you can see which filter is applied at a glance. Switch back to All when you want the full picture again.

Manage your list

The center is a personal workspace — clearing or marking items helps you distinguish new from handled without affecting the underlying events in Chat, Calendar, or Info Hub.

To remove one item, tap the trash icon on that notification.

To clear unread indicators for everything in the list, tap the menu and choose Mark all read.

To empty the entire list, tap the menu and choose Delete all.

Action Effect
Trash icon on one row Deletes that notification from the center only
Mark all read Clears unread indicators; items remain in the list
Delete all Removes every notification from the list

Tap a notification to jump to the related item — for example, open the matching chat conversation or calendar appointment.

Find the notification in the list (use a filter if helpful).

Tap the notification row.

Fuxam Mobile opens the related screen — for example, the message thread, appointment details, or announcement content.

Behavior by type:

If you have no notifications, you see No Notifications with the message that you are all caught up. That means the center has nothing queued — it does not necessarily mean no new pushes will arrive later if your preferences allow them.

Best practices

  • Check the center after busy periods — start of term, exam weeks, and registration windows generate more chat, calendar, and Info Hub activity.
  • Filter before you bulk-clear — use Chat or Appointments filters to review one domain before choosing Delete all, so you do not lose pointers you still need.
  • Tap through for official notices — for urgent institutional messages, open the full announcement rather than relying on the notification preview alone.
  • Pair with push preferences — if the list feels noisy, narrow push categories in Manage push notifications while still browsing the center on your own schedule.
  • Use Calendar and Chat tabs for ongoing work — the notification center is for arrival and triage; day-to-day messaging lives under Chat, and planning lives under Calendar.

Common pitfalls

Situation What to know
Deleted a notification but the appointment is still cancelled Expected — deletion only clears the list entry, not the calendar event. Check View your schedule.
No Info Hub filter Your institution may not have announcements enabled on mobile.
Push arrived but nothing in the center Open the related tab directly — Chat, Calendar, or the announcement from the push — or check again shortly in the Notifications tab.
Mark all read but Chat tab still shows unread Chat maintains its own unread counts per conversation; open the thread to align state.

FAQ

What is the difference between push notifications and the notification center?

Push notifications are lock-screen alerts that can appear when the app is in the background. The notification center is the in-app Notifications tab where those events (and others) are listed for review. You control pushes under Account → Notification Preferences — see Manage push notifications.

Why do I see Info Hub items on mobile?

Staff publish announcements in Fuxam Base Info Hub on Fuxam Web. When your institution enables announcements, eligible posts can appear in the mobile notification center and, if you allow it, as urgent push alerts.

Does deleting a notification delete the chat message or appointment?

No. Deletion only removes the entry from your notification list. Messages remain in Chat; appointments remain on your calendar unless changed at the source.

Can I recover notifications after Delete all?

No — Delete all clears the in-app list. If you still need the information, open Chat, Calendar, or Info Hub directly, or wait for a new notification if another event occurs.
