Handbook Mobile
In-depth handbook for the Fuxam mobile app on iOS and Android — calendar, chat, check-in, notifications, account settings, and getting started.
Welcome to the in-depth handbook for Fuxam Mobile, the companion app for Fuxam Web. Students and staff use it on iPhone and Android to stay connected to their institution between classes and away from a desk: see today’s schedule, message people, check in to sessions, read institutional updates, and manage account settings from a single pocket-sized interface.
After you sign in, the app opens on Calendar — your home base for the day. Everything else is one tap away on the bottom tab bar.
Why it matters
University life does not stop at the campus edge. Lectures move rooms, attendance windows open for only a few minutes, staff need to answer messages on the move, and students expect timely alerts about schedule changes. A dedicated mobile app puts the same institutional data that powers Fuxam Web into a form factor optimized for quick glances, camera-based check-in, and push notifications — without requiring a laptop or browser session.
How this fits into Fuxam
Fuxam Mobile is not a separate product. It reads from the same institution, roles, and appointments as the web platform. What you see on mobile reflects what administrators configure in OrgHub and what you access in Fuxam Web modules such as Base calendar and Base chat.
| Mobile tab | Primary purpose | Web counterpart |
|---|---|---|
| Calendar | Day-to-day schedule, appointment actions | View the calendar in Base |
| Chat | Direct and group messaging | Base chat |
| Check-In | QR attendance for sessions | Check-in in LMS calendar and attendance |
| Notifications | In-app feed and update prompts | Institutional announcements via Info Hub on web |
| Account | Student ID, profile, preferences | User record managed in User Management on web |
Some features appear only when your institution enables them or when your role permits access. If a tab or action is missing, your configuration — not a bug — is often the reason.
Key concepts
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Tab | One of the five persistent areas at the bottom of the screen: Calendar, Chat, Check-In, Notifications, Account. |
| Appointment | A scheduled event on your calendar — lecture, meeting, exam session, or similar. Created and managed on web; viewed and acted on in the app. |
| Check-in | Recording your attendance at a session, usually by scanning a QR code displayed by staff. |
| Background update | A small app update that downloads in the background without visiting the App Store or Google Play. |
| Institution | The university or organization whose data you are viewing. Users linked to more than one institution can switch under Account. |
| SSO | Single sign-on — institutional login that redirects you to your organization’s identity provider instead of a Fuxam password. |
The five tabs
Use five tabs at the bottom of the screen:
- Calendar — view your schedule, open appointment details, join online meetings, get directions, and report absences
- Chat — message classmates, staff, and course groups; same conversation layer as web chat, optimized for mobile
- Check-In — scan QR codes to mark attendance; staff can display codes and manage attendance records
- Notifications — see updates from your institution, including prompts to install a new app version from the store
- Account — your digital student ID, personal information, institution and language settings, and sign out

Roles and responsibilities
| Role | Typical mobile use |
|---|---|
| Student | Calendar for daily schedule, Check-In for attendance, Chat with peers and staff, Notifications for announcements |
| Teaching staff | Calendar for sessions, Check-In to display QR codes and manage attendance, Chat for course communication |
| Administrative staff | Chat and Notifications for operational communication; Calendar when their role includes scheduled appointments |
Institution administrators configure which capabilities are available through Fuxam Web — for example, whether chat channels exist or which profile fields are mandatory. The mobile app surfaces what your account is allowed to see.
