Manage attendance (staff)

View and update participant attendance for an appointment using the Attendance sheet in Fuxam Mobile — Users and Analytics tabs, statuses, and relation to web take-attendance.

Staff and organizers with attendance permissions can review and update who attended a session from the appointment’s Attendance sheet in Fuxam Mobile. The sheet lists every participant assigned to the appointment, shows check-in times when students scanned a QR code, and summarizes presence on an Analytics tab.

This is the mobile counterpart to Take attendance on Fuxam Web. Both views work on the same appointment record — QR check-ins from Check in with a QR code appear here automatically, and manual updates you make on mobile sync to the web attendance matrix.

Why it matters

Student self check-in handles the majority of presence recording in large sessions, but real classrooms produce exceptions: late arrivals, approved online participation, technical scan failures, or students who forgot to check in. Manage attendance gives staff a single place to review the full participant list, see analytics at a glance, and correct individual statuses when you have permission to change attendance.

Reliable attendance data supports programme rules, reporting, and the course-wide attendance matrix built from per-appointment records.

Key concepts

Term Meaning
Users tab Participant list with current status and check-in time when available.
Analytics tab Summary charts — attendance rate, type breakdown, check-in timeline.
Permission to change attendance Lets you tap a participant and update their status.
View-only permission Lets you see lists and analytics but not change individual statuses.

How to manage attendance

Open the appointment from your calendar.

Tap Attendance.

Review participants on the Users tab or summary charts on the Analytics tab.

On the Users tab, tap a participant to update their status (requires permission to change attendance).

On the Update Attendance sheet, choose Attended In-Person, Attended Online, or Not Attended, then confirm.

Open the appointment from your mobile calendar — the same sessions created and managed in FuxamLMS calendar attendance.

Users tab

The Users tab lists everyone assigned to the appointment. Each row shows the participant’s current status and check-in time when available. Status labels include In-Person, Online, and Not Attended.

Use this tab after students scan the QR from Show a check-in QR code to verify who is still missing or marked incorrectly. Tap a row only when you have permission to change attendance and need to update a status.

Analytics tab

The Analytics tab summarizes attendance with:

Metric What it shows
Attendance Rate How many participants are present versus absent
Attendance Type Breakdown of in-person versus online attendance
Check-in Timeline When participants checked in over time

The timeline helps you spot late surges (students arriving after the lecture starts) or gaps that suggest QR display or network issues.

Status reference

On the Update Attendance sheet, choose one of:

Status Use when
Attended In-Person The participant was physically present
Attended Online The participant joined remotely
Not Attended The participant did not attend

These align with the presence categories staff use in Take attendance on the web (Present, Absent, Excused and related labels may differ slightly by context, but both feed the same appointment record).

If no participants are assigned, you see No participants. Attendance data updates as students scan QR codes or as you adjust statuses manually.

Best practices

  • Let students check in via QR first, then use the Users tab to fix exceptions — faster than marking everyone manually.
  • Glance at Analytics after large sessions to confirm the attendance rate matches your expectations.
  • Record Attended Online separately when hybrid participation matters for your programme’s rules.
  • Coordinate with co-organizers: one person displays the QR (Show a check-in QR code) while another monitors the Users tab if the group is very large.

Common pitfalls

Issue What to try
Cannot tap to update a user You may have view-only permission — you can see the list but not make changes.
No participants No one is assigned to the appointment — verify enrollment and appointment setup.
Check-in time missing The student may not have scanned — direct them to Check in with a QR code or set status manually.
Numbers differ from web Refresh both views; mobile and web share the same record once synced.

FAQ

Is this the same data as Take attendance on the web?

Yes. Take attendance and mobile Attendance work on the same appointment. Changes on either platform update the shared record.

Why can I see users but not edit them?

Changing status requires permission to change attendance. View-only permission lets you open the Users and Analytics tabs without tapping to update anyone.

Do QR check-ins appear automatically?

Yes. When students scan on the Check-In tab, their rows update with status and check-in time when available.
