Troubleshooting

Fix common Fuxam mobile app issues — check-in failures, sign-in errors, missing notifications, calendar sync, and update prompts.

Troubleshooting collects practical fixes for the problems students and staff encounter most often in Fuxam Mobile. Open the section that matches your problem — check-in, sign-in, notifications, calendar, or updates — and follow the steps listed there.

Why it matters

At universities, mobile failures have real consequences: missed attendance windows, invisible schedule changes, and unanswered messages from instructors. Most issues fall into a small set of categories — permissions, timing, enrollment, network, or institution configuration — and resolve without a support ticket when you know which lever to pull.

How it fits

Symptom area First checks Deeper handbook pages
Check-in Camera permission, QR timing, enrollment Check in with a QR code
Sign-in Credentials, SSO, signed in on another device Sign in, Reset your password
Notifications In-app toggles and OS permission Manage push notifications
Calendar Pull to refresh, institution switch View your schedule
Updates Notifications card or blocking alert Keep the app up to date

When mobile behavior still does not match what you see on Fuxam Web, compare against the web handbook — for example View the calendar or Base chat — to confirm the underlying data exists before blaming the phone app.

Quick fixes by topic

Why can't I check in?

Several things can prevent a successful check-in:

  • Camera permission denied — The app needs camera access to scan QR codes. Open your device settings, find Fuxam, and enable the Camera permission.
  • QR code expired — Rotating QR codes refresh on a timer set by your organizer. If you see “QR expired or invalid”, ask your instructor to refresh the code.
  • Check-in not open yet — You may see “Check-in has not started yet” if you scan before the check-in window opens.
  • Check-in period ended — “Check-in period has ended” means the scan window for that session has closed.
  • Already checked in — You can only check in once per session. If you see “You are already checked in”, your attendance is already recorded.
  • Not enrolled — “You are not enrolled in this event” means you are not a participant in that appointment.
  • Network error — Check your internet connection and try again.

Staff displaying codes should see Show a check-in QR code. Students can review See upcoming sessions and recent check-ins to confirm session timing.

The QR code on screen won't scan
  • Make sure the entire QR code is visible inside the camera frame.
  • Use the zoom controls in the scanner to adjust if the code is too small or far away.
  • Ask your instructor if the code is still valid — rotating codes change every few seconds or minutes depending on the setting.
  • If you see “Invalid QR code”, you may be scanning a code that is not a Fuxam check-in code.
I can't sign in
  • Wrong email or password — Double-check your credentials. Use Forgot Password? on the sign-in screen to reset your password.
  • Already signed in on another device — Sign out from the other device first, or use the same device.
  • Account locked or suspended — Contact your institution’s support team.
  • Network error — Check your internet connection and try again.
  • SSO issues — If you use institutional sign-on and see “SSO sign-in was cancelled”, try again. If the problem persists, contact your institution’s IT support.

See Sign in for the full sign-in flow and Reset your password if you forgot your password.

I'm not receiving push notifications
  1. Go to Account → Notification Preferences and check that All push notifications is turned on.
  2. Check that the specific notification type you expect is also toggled on.
  3. If the app shows Enable Notifications, your phone has blocked permission. Tap Open Settings and enable notifications for Fuxam, then return to the app.

For per-type controls and saving behavior, see Manage push notifications. In-app announcements may still appear under Use the notification center even when push is disabled.

Why can't I report an absence?
  • Already reported — You can only report an absence once per appointment. If you already submitted one, the detail sheet shows your reported reason instead of the “Can’t attend” button.
  • Appointment not on your calendar — The option only appears for appointments assigned to you.

See Report an absence for the reporting workflow and Appointment details for what the detail sheet shows.

My calendar is empty or out of date
  • Pull down on the calendar to refresh your schedule.
  • Make sure you are connected to the internet — the calendar requires a network connection.
  • If you belong to multiple institutions, check that you have selected the correct one under Account → Institution.

Compare with View your schedule on mobile and View the calendar on web if appointments exist in one place but not the other.

I don't see the Chat tab or certain features

Some features depend on your institution’s configuration. Chat, announcements, course channels, and other features may not be enabled for all institutions or all roles.

When chat is available, start with Find and filter conversations. On web, the parallel module is Base chat.

The app is asking me to update
  • Recommended update — A card appears in the Notifications tab. Tap Update now to open the App Store or Google Play.
  • Required update — An alert blocks the app until you install the latest version. Open the store and update to continue.

For more detail, see Keep the app up to date.

Before you contact support

Gather these details so your institution’s team can help faster:

Detail Where to find it
App version Bottom of Account tab
Institution selected Account → Institution
Error message text Exact wording on screen
Appointment or session Date, time, and course name from Calendar

Still stuck?

If none of these steps resolve your issue, contact your institution’s support team or use Account → Contact Support.

Administrators investigating account-level problems may use View a user on Fuxam Web to confirm your enrollment, role, and profile status.
