Getting around
Navigate FuxamLMS — the sidebar, home screen tabs, personal dashboard widgets, and pinned courses for quick access.
Getting around FuxamLMS means understanding the shell you see after every sign-in: the collapsible sidebar on the left, the personal Home screen with its role-specific tabs, and the shortcuts that keep your busiest courses within one click. None of this is decorative — universities run on repetition. Students open the same courses dozens of times a term; teachers bounce between preparation, live sessions, and grading. A predictable navigation layer reduces friction so attention stays on learning.
This section covers orientation only. Once you know where things live, you move into substantive LMS work — opening courses, building content, or managing your student home tabs. Getting around is the map; the other LMS chapters are the destinations.
Why it matters
Without a shared mental model of the interface, every user reinvents navigation: scrolling My Courses for a course they use hourly, missing announcements buried in another tab, or never discovering the Management tab where grades and attendance live. The sidebar and home screen are designed to put your work surface first — widgets for what you need today, tabs for programme-level views, pinned courses for depth work inside a single module.
Institutions also configure what appears. Your role profile and which features your institution has enabled determine whether items like Emails, Tasks, Curriculum, and Module Catalog appear for you. A missing tab usually means it is not turned on for your role — not that the feature is absent for everyone.
How this fits into Fuxam
Getting around sits at the entry point of FuxamLMS. It connects outward to Fuxam Base — several sidebar destinations (Calendar, Chat, Info Hub) are institution-wide Base tools that also surface inside courses — and inward to every LMS submodule.

Roles and responsibilities
Everyone who signs into Fuxam Web uses this shell, but what they see differs:
- Students typically use Dashboard, My Courses, Curriculum, Bundles, Management, and Module Catalog tabs when enabled. See For students for what each student tab does.
- Teachers rely on My Courses, pinned courses during term time, and dashboard widgets such as Agenda and In Progress Tasks.
- Staff with messaging or email permissions may see Emails or institution Tasks in the sidebar.
No role can customise another person’s dashboard or pinned list — those are account-level preferences.
Where to start
- Read Navigate the dashboard once to learn the sidebar and tab layout.
- Spend five minutes on Customise your home dashboard so your first screen shows what you need this week.
- Pin courses you are actively teaching or studying — update the list as priorities shift through the term.
