Browse & manage courses
Use the OrgHub Courses table to search, filter, open course details, and take row-level actions across your entire institution catalog.
The Courses table in OrgHub is the institution’s master index of every Fuxam course — regardless of which instructor or department owns it. Administrators use it to search the catalog, filter by term or status, open a course for deeper work, and trigger row-level actions such as archive or delete. This page is the front door to course management; creation, editing, duplication, and enrollment each have dedicated chapters, but browsing is where you orient yourself before any of those tasks.
Why it matters
Operational staff need a single pane of glass across the catalog. Registrars verify offerings before enrollment opens; academic administrators check which courses are active for a given term; IT support locates a course by name or code when a teacher reports access issues. Without centralized browse and filter tools, each department maintains informal spreadsheets that drift out of sync with the system of record.
The Courses table is that system of record for delivery courses at the institution level. It complements — but does not replace — module planning (which plans what should run for cohorts) and the LMS course list (which shows courses a given user is enrolled in).
How it fits
| Step | Where to go next |
|---|---|
| Create a new offering | Create a course |
| Change name, code, or tags | Edit a course |
| Configure capacity and tabs | Course settings |
| Copy an existing structure | Duplicate a course |
| Retire a term offering | Archive a course |
| Add many participants | Bulk-enroll users |
| Connect to academic modules | Link courses to a database |
Courses often relate to module versions and cohort study plans. Browsing the table helps you confirm that planned modules have corresponding delivery courses before enrollment windows open.
Key concepts
| Term | In the Courses table |
|---|---|
| Course name | Display title; click to open the course dashboard |
| Course code | Institution identifier; editable inline |
| Status | Active or Archived — controls default visibility in the table |
| Tags | Institution labels for grouping and filtering |
| Term filter | Narrows the list to courses associated with a specific academic term |
How to open the Courses table
Go to OrgHub → Management → Courses.
Review the table listing all courses your role has permission to see.
If Courses is missing from the Management section, ask an administrator to review your OrgHub permissions — specifically permission to view course management.
How to search and filter
Use the toolbar to narrow down the course list:
- Search — type a course name or identifier.
- Term filter — show only courses running in a specific academic term.
- Status filter — filter by course status (for example, active or archived).
Consistent tags and naming conventions make these filters reliable across years. Establish conventions before the catalog grows large.
How to view and edit a course
Select a course name to open its detail page. From the detail page you can:
- Update the course title, description, and settings.
- View enrolled users and their roles within the course.
- Access content blocks and course structure.
You can also hover a course name in the table to preview key details without leaving the list. For field-by-field editing guidance, see Edit a course. For capacity, LMS tabs, and connected modules, see Course settings.
Opening a course from here lands you in the same workspace teachers use in the LMS — the difference is that OrgHub gives administrators catalog-wide access and structural actions (status, bulk operations, institution tags) that enrolled teachers may not see.
How to archive or delete a course
To archive or delete a course, open the action menu (the three-dot icon) in the course’s row and select the relevant option.
You can also change status inline via the Status column, or select multiple rows for bulk Delete. See Archive a course for the full comparison of archive, restore, and permanent deletion.
Reference: common table actions
| Goal | Typical approach |
|---|---|
| Open course workspace | Click the course name |
| Quick status change | Status dropdown on the row |
| Edit course code | Inline in the Course code column |
| Copy for a new term | Row checkboxes → bulk Duplicate — see Duplicate a course |
| Remove from active catalog | Set status to Archived — see Archive a course |
| Add participants at scale | Bulk-enroll users |
| Configure capacity and tabs | Open the course → Course Settings |
Best practices
- Establish naming conventions early. Consistent course names and codes make search and term filters reliable across years.
- Use tags for administrative grouping. Tags help filter offerings by department, degree program, or delivery mode without changing the course code.
- Archive instead of delete when historical grades, submissions, or chat may be needed for audits or appeals.
- Cross-check with planning. Before declaring a term ready, compare the filtered Courses table against module planning for the same term.
- Configure Course Settings before mass enrollment. Capacity and feature toggles are easier to set while the course is still empty.
Common pitfalls
| Pitfall | What to do |
|---|---|
| Cannot find a course that “should” exist | Clear filters; include Archived status; verify you have layer access to that course’s parent structure |
| Deleted when archive was intended | Deletion is permanent — prefer Archived status; see Archive a course |
| Course visible in OrgHub but teacher cannot find it in LMS | Confirm the teacher is enrolled and the course is Active |
| Colleague sees more courses than you | Compare roles and scoped structure access in Roles and permissions |
FAQ
Why does my colleague see a different number of courses?
OrgHub visibility is permission-scoped. Users with structure-limited roles see only courses within their authorized layers. Compare roles in Roles and permissions.
Does browsing here change what students see on their dashboard?
The table is administrative. Student visibility depends on enrollment, course status, and institution policy. Archiving hides courses from default admin views; enrolled students may still retain access unless restricted elsewhere.
Where do I configure Learning Journey, Chat, or Calendar tabs?
Open the course and use Course Settings, or see Course settings in this section and Configure course features in the LMS handbook.
