Calendar
The institution-wide schedule in Fuxam Base — view your appointments, filter by course or cohort, and create, edit, or delete events.
The Calendar is Fuxam’s single, institution-wide schedule. It gathers every appointment you participate in or organize — lectures, seminars, meetings, deadlines, and other scheduled events — into one place so you never have to reconcile competing timetables. It is part of Fuxam Base and appears in the main sidebar for all users.
Because the Calendar is a Base feature, it aggregates events from every context you can access: courses you teach or take, cohorts you belong to, rooms you manage, and appointments where you are simply an invited participant. Filters and saved views then let you narrow that firehose down to exactly the slice you care about.
Why it matters
A university runs on shared time. Students need to know when and where their next session is; teachers need to schedule sessions without double-booking rooms; administrators need an authoritative record of what is happening across the institution. A fragmented set of personal calendars invites missed classes, room clashes, and confusion about which version of the schedule is correct.
The Calendar solves this by being the single source of truth for time in Fuxam. Appointments created here appear on the personal calendars of everyone invited, sync with attendance in the LMS, and (for students) show up in the Fuxam mobile app. One event, entered once, reaches everyone who needs it.
How it fits
The Base calendar is the institution-wide view. The LMS also exposes course-scoped calendars — a single course’s schedule on its own Calendar tab — for people who want to focus on one class at a time. The two are different windows onto the same underlying appointments.
Related areas across the platform:
- Rooms are defined in the CMS and can be booked on an appointment; see Rooms and Assign a room to an appointment.
- Cohorts created in Study programs and cohorts can be invited as a group.
- Attendance in the LMS is recorded against calendar appointments; see Calendar and attendance.
- On mobile, students browse the same schedule; see View your schedule.
Quick orientation
Click Calendar in the left sidebar to open the institution-wide schedule. The main area shows your appointments; the secondary sidebar on the right provides date navigation, filters, saved calendar views, and a shortcut to create appointments.
Calendar views
Switch views from the toolbar at the top of the calendar:
| View | What you see |
|---|---|
| Day | A single day in timeline format. |
| Week | Seven days including the weekend. |
| Work week | Monday through Friday only. |
| Month | A monthly grid with appointment indicators. |
| Year | A yearly overview. |
Use the back and forward arrows to move between periods. When you are not on today, click Today to jump back to the current date.
Filtering
Use the Filters section in the calendar sidebar to narrow what appears on the grid:
- I’m participant — appointments where you are listed as a participant.
- Organized by me — appointments you organize.
- Filter by course — limit events to selected courses.
- Filter by cohort — limit events to selected cohorts.
- Priority appointments only — when events overlap, show only the highest-priority items.
Administrators with the right permissions may also see All Appointments to view every event they can access. You can save filter combinations as My Calendars (personal calendar views) for quick switching.
