For students

The student-facing home in FuxamLMS — book module courses, track curriculum and ECTS progress, elect modules from the catalog, and manage personal academic records.

Your Home screen in FuxamLMS is where you manage your studies day to day: see what you must complete, choose optional modules, book course sections, and review personal records such as grades and attendance.

Student home is the name for this learner-facing area. Your institution builds the study plan behind it (modules, electives, and terms); you use the tabs on Home to follow that plan and take action.

Why it matters

A degree is more than a list of enrolled courses. Universities expect students to:

  • Complete required modules in the right structure (often measured in ECTS credit points).
  • Choose within elective groups under published rules (credit caps, course counts, unlock conditions).
  • Join the correct course instances for those modules when several sections run in parallel.
  • Keep track of attendance, grades, documents, and sometimes tuition or insurance records.

Student home brings those obligations into one place so you are not guessing from emails or scattered spreadsheets. Progress on the Curriculum tab reflects the study plan cloned from your cohort’s curriculum version; elections in the Module Catalog feed that plan; booking in My Courses places you into concrete LMS courses; the Management tab collects the evidence of what you have already done.

How this fits into Fuxam

Administrators design the blueprint in FuxamCMS. Students consume it in FuxamLMS.

Related area How it connects to student home
Curricula Your Curriculum tab shows the study plan from the curriculum version assigned to your cohort
Modules Units of study with ECTS and versions; they appear as rows in Curriculum and Module Catalog
Elective groups Rules that constrain which optional modules you may elect and how many credits or courses you need
Courses The LMS spaces you open after booking or assignment — learning journey, calendar, grades
Course bundles Administrator-assigned packages of courses (Home → Bundles), separate from self-booking
Getting around Sidebar, Dashboard widgets, and Home tab orientation that surrounds these student tabs

Key concepts

Term Meaning for students
Curriculum / study plan The official programme of modules assigned to you (from your cohort’s curriculum version), with required and elective structure
Module A unit of study (for example “Introduction to Economics”), usually carrying ECTS credits
ECTS European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System — credit points reflecting estimated workload; a full academic year commonly equals 60 ECTS in the European Higher Education Area
Elective group A cluster of optional modules with rules such as “select until X credits” or “select N courses”
Elect a module Register intent to take a module in a given term via the Module Catalog (not the same as booking a course section)
Book a course Self-enroll into a specific bookable course instance from My Courses
Course bundle A set of courses assigned together by administrators; appears under Home → Bundles when your institution uses bundles
Management tab Your personal records hub — attendance, grades, documents, and institution-specific finance or insurance sections

Module election vs course booking

These two steps are easy to confuse:

Action Where What it does
Elect a module Module Catalog Chooses which curriculum module (and often which term) you intend to fulfill
Book a course My Courses Joins a specific course instance (section, timetable, teacher) that delivers teaching

Your institution may enroll you automatically after election, open courses for self-booking, assign courses via a study programme or access package, or use course bundles. The Curriculum tab shows academic progress; My Courses shows where you learn day to day.

ECTS progress at a glance

Progress indicators on the Curriculum tab typically combine module or course completion with ECTS accumulated per group, depending on how your institution structured the curriculum. Mandatory groups track required modules; elective groups track how far you are toward the group’s credit or course-count rule. An Overflow status can appear when you have elected more than the group requires — surplus may count toward another group if administrators configured an overflow target.

Roles and responsibilities

Who Typical responsibility
Student Elect modules within rules and windows, book open courses when offered, monitor Curriculum progress, and use Management for personal records
Administrator / planner Maintain curricula, elective groups, election periods, and course offerings in FuxamCMS so student tabs show correct options
Teacher Run the LMS course after students are enrolled — content, attendance, and publishing grades students later see in Management

Where to start

A practical order for most students at the start of a term:

  1. Confirm your programme on View your curriculum — required modules, elective groups, and ECTS progress.
  2. During an open election window, use the Module Catalog to elect optional modules.
  3. When courses are bookable, book the instance that fits your timetable (or waitlist if full).
  4. Open courses from My Courses or pinned shortcuts and work through the learning journey.
  5. Check the Management tab for published grades, attendance, and documents.
